Eco-Friendly Operation and Management
Since 2011, monitoring has shown no harm to water quality, fish, or birds.
K-water monitors floating solar impacts on water quality, sediment, and ecosystems, finding no significant changes. The area beneath the facilities supports fish habitats, boosting populations and offering ecological benefits.

Rainwater naturally cleans the panels without chemical agents.
Bird droppings, dust, and pollen on solar panels are naturally washed away by rain. If needed, they can be cleaned using dry or wet cloths.

Eco-Friendly and Safe Design

Modules are spaced to allow sunlight penetration underwater.
Modules are installed at least 1.5m apart, considering the 33° inclination for optimal sunlight exposure.
This minimizes the impact of shading.

Solar power does not emit electric fields or electromagnetic waves, ensuring no harm to the ecosystem.
Solar power generates DC electricity, producing no electric fields or waves. The inverter emits minimal waves, far less than household appliances.

Structures Resistant to Typhoons, Corrosion, Impacts, and Heat

Designed with wind speed standards and safety margins to withstand typhoons.
K-water structures are designed to endure strong typhoons with a design wind speed of 45m/s and safety margins of 2–3. This was proven during Typhoon Bolaven in 2012 (maximum wind speed 36.3m/s) near Hapcheon Dam, where no damage occurred.
Highly corrosion-resistant structures and elastic mooring systems withstand any environment.
- Made of high-corrosion-resistant alloy steel, which is over five times more durable than regular alloy steel, ensuring safety in aquatic environments.
- The float consists of six compartments, maintaining buoyancy even if partially damaged. It resists ice pressure, thermal expansion, and contraction without deformation.
- The mooring system uses elastic materials, keeping the solar facility securely afloat regardless of water level, wind, or current.
